The United Arab Emirates marked the Professional Day of Nuclear and Radiation Sector Workers, a tribute to approximately 20,000 dedicated professionals within this vital sector. Established by the UAE Cabinet in January 2023, this day commemorates the issuance of the operating license for Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).

A Milestone for Peaceful Nuclear Energy Development

This special occasion underscores the achievements and unwavering commitment of UAE's nuclear workforce, integral to the country's pioneering Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme. The UAE stands as a global model for emerging nations venturing into peaceful nuclear energy projects.

Christer Viktorsson, FANR’s Director-General, highlighted the significance of this day: "The Professional Day is an opportunity to honor those whose relentless efforts ensure the safe and secure use of nuclear technologies in the UAE. Their expertise not only fosters innovation but also prioritizes safety for people and the environment."

Aligning with National Celebrations

Coinciding with the UAE's "Year of Community," FANR emphasizes its commitment to protecting public, worker, and environmental welfare through stringent regulatory practices.
