

In a significant development for economic collaboration, the Qatar Chamber (QC) welcomed a delegation from the People’s Republic of China, led by Ma Fengmin, Deputy Director General of the China Foreign Trade Centre. The meeting in Doha, Qatar, was spearheaded by Ali Bu Sherbak Al Kaabi, President and CEO of QC, alongside other prominent Qatari officials.

The primary goal was to deepen economic ties between Qatar and China, with a special focus on enhancing trade opportunities. A key agenda item discussed was the invitation for Chinese businesses to participate in the 137th Canton Fair in Guangzhou, anticipated to host over 30,000 exhibitors.

Both parties explored potential investment avenues across various sectors, emphasizing collaboration between their business communities. Discussions covered the development of joint projects and investments that could propel economic growth in both nations.

Ali Bu Sherbak Al Kaabi highlighted Qatar’s commitment to a dynamic economy characterized by innovation and diversification. He underscored opportunities within key sectors such as energy, finance, healthcare, infrastructure, technology, and tourism, aimed at sustaining economic development.
China's Economic Influence and Trade Relations
Ma Fengmin pointed out China’s strategic importance in global trade, having established relationships with over 120 countries. The discussions also touched upon enhancing bilateral relations further, including cooperation between QC and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, focusing on customs modernization.
