The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has recently announced a significant development with the signing of four major contracts. These agreements aim to construct, complete, and maintain approximately 6,455 housing units along with essential public buildings. In addition to residential projects, the contracts cover surface asphalt works, supply and installation of low and medium voltage cables, and road lighting across seven suburbs.
This announcement was made by Rashid Al-Enezi, the Acting Director General of PAHW, during a press statement on Sunday. He emphasized that these new contracts complete all necessary agreements for the affordable housing project's construction, maintenance, and associated works. This marks a crucial step in advancing Kuwait’s infrastructure development. Furthermore, Al-Enezi revealed that the Authority has also concluded six additional contracts with both local and international firms.
These contracts are aimed at various city infrastructure tasks, valued at KD 785.3 million (approximately $2.6 billion), to be executed over a period of 1,095 days. The comprehensive project plan includes constructing 9,800 houses along with public buildings and site connection works. It also involves the development of 74 public facilities such as kindergartens, primary schools, intermediate schools, secondary schools, mosques, community centers, police stations, health centers, markets, gas branches, and a diwaniya for the elderly.
According to Al-Enezi, these contracts represent PAHW's strategic commitment to deliver integrated housing solutions aimed at improving residents' living standards. The project is scheduled for completion by early 2028, with ongoing work on the initial two contracts which began in January of the previous year. These contracts involve building 3,345 houses along with several public buildings.
