In a significant diplomatic engagement, Muscat hosted Carl Sacco, Deputy Executive Director General and Director of Operations at the World Food Programme (WFP), who was received by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy. The Undersecretary of Oman's Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs held this pivotal meeting on Wednesday to delve into aspects of collaboration between Oman and the United Nations, focusing specifically on improving food aid initiatives.

Reviewing Cooperation and Enhancing Support

During their discussion, both parties reviewed existing cooperative measures and explored avenues to bolster them further. Sacco acknowledged Oman's influential role in addressing regional issues while highlighting its active involvement in delivering essential food assistance to nations embroiled in conflicts and wars.

Sheikh Khalifa underscored the critical importance of the World Food Programme's efforts in providing much-needed aid to vulnerable populations, particularly in Gaza, Yemen, and Syria. His acknowledgment reflected Oman's commitment to supporting global humanitarian causes through collaboration with esteemed international bodies like WFP.

The meeting also saw the participation of Mohammed Abdullah Al Qatabi, Head of the International Organizations Department, along with Dr. Abdullah Al Wardat. Dr. Wardat holds a dual role as Director of Government Partnerships and Director of the WFP Programme in Lebanon, further emphasizing the strategic dialogue's depth on enhancing bilateral cooperation for humanitarian efforts.
