Oman's Ministry of Social Development Celebrates Milestone Graduation for People with Disabilities

In a landmark event organized by the Ministry of Social Development, Muscat recently witnessed a joyous graduation ceremony for 60 individuals with disabilities. This marked the completion of an inspiring training program under the "Be with Us for Them" initiative.

Aims and Achievements: The initiative focuses on empowering people with disabilities through specialized training, aiming to enhance employment opportunities post-training. The comprehensive curriculum included customer service, office management, document handling, and electronic archiving, catering specifically to those with mental, motor, and hearing impairments.

Partnership and Training Venues: This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Social Development and the Specialized Human Development Centre. Twenty-one participants received training at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate. Meanwhile, 39 others were trained at Mohammed Al Barwani Training Institute in Muscat's Al Athaiba.

Vision and Impact: The "Be with Us for Them" initiative is a step towards realizing the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by fostering partnerships across major sectors to promote social responsibility. The program has already facilitated 57 direct employment opportunities through collaborations with 13 private sector companies, showcasing significant progress toward its goal of empowering 500 individuals with disabilities by 2027.

Honoring Contributions: The graduation ceremony was graced by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, who highlighted the vital contributions from both government and private sectors in making this initiative successful. Her statement underlined the importance of such collaborative efforts to ensure inclusion and provide meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities.

The continued support and partnership between various sectors promise a brighter future for individuals with disabilities in Oman, aligning with national goals of social development and empowerment.
