In an impressive demonstration of operational efficiency and market appeal, Oman Air has set a new benchmark by recording its highest seat occupancy rate ever. In January 2025, the airline achieved an astounding 88% total load factor, surpassing global averages and marking a significant achievement in air travel history.

The carrier’s exceptional performance saw various destinations achieving load factors as high as 95%. This remarkable figure eclipses the global average of 83.5% for 2024, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Business Class also performed remarkably well, with a 77% occupancy rate, underscoring the airline’s appeal among premium travelers.

In his remarks, Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, expressed pride in these achievements: “We're extremely proud of this record load factor. It reflects the strength of our network and shows that our strategic changes are yielding positive results. As we head into the summer season, there's strong momentum in bookings, and our focus remains on sustaining growth by delivering exceptional service.”

Strategic Transformation and Growth Oman Air embarked on a significant transformation journey in 2023 with an ambitious goal: to achieve financial breakeven within three years while contributing positively to Oman’s socio-economic objectives. In 2024, the airline reported substantial progress towards these goals following a comprehensive network review, emphasis on profitable routes, and a fleet modernisation programme. This involved introducing efficient new aircraft and retiring older models.

Currently, Oman Air serves over 40 destinations with both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, offering three cabin classes and diverse fare options. The airline remains committed to maintaining high-quality service standards and reliability, boasting one of the highest On-Time Performance rankings globally throughout 2024 and earning numerous prestigious awards.

As Oman Air continues to enhance its market share by attracting more tourists to Oman, it reinforces its role as a key player in supporting the country’s economic development.
