The Ministry of Information in Oman is set to lead a pioneering initiative with an evolutionary workshop entitled "Towards a National Framework for Dealing with Social Media." Scheduled for Sunday, February 16, 2025, this two-week workshop aims at shaping the future discourse on social media's role within society.
Collaborative Efforts Towards a Visionary Goal
In alignment with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's vision on safeguarding children’s upbringing amidst the pervasive influence of social media, the workshop is organized in collaboration with "Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit" and other key departments. This initiative builds upon a series of preparatory efforts by the Ministry of Information to harness insights from academics, researchers, educators, media professionals, and specialists.
Strategic Frameworks and Initiatives
A dedicated team has been working on developing strategic frameworks that incorporate smart goals, algorisms, and tackle challenges directly linked to Oman Vision 2040's priorities. Through comprehensive analysis of initial projects and in-depth visits to various government departments, this workshop aims at fostering an environment conducive to positive social media engagement while curbing its negative impacts.
Anticipated Outcomes and Societal Impact
Expected outcomes from the workshop include a suite of initiatives and programs poised for implementation by relevant authorities. The overarching goal is to bolster the beneficial aspects of social media usage and mitigate potential adverse effects on society. This initiative not only represents Oman's proactive stance in addressing digital age challenges but also sets a precedent for strategic, collaborative efforts in managing the complexities of social media.
