The Kuwaiti National Robotics Championship's second edition has commenced, organized collaboratively by the Ministry of Education, Youth Authority, and Kuwait University. The event features competitions in artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, and drone technology, attracting 400 teams from various schools.
These teams vie for over KD 6000 (about $20,000 USD) in awards. Successful participants will progress to national finals at Kuwait University on February 21-22, with further rounds at other universities. The championship includes categories like robot games, drone racing, smart cities, and virtual reality competitions, focusing on educational innovation and technological enthusiasm among youth. Last year, Kuwait University emerged victorious in the initial session and later won an international award for best robot in the U.S. VEX global competition, marking a historic achievement as the first Arab team from the Middle East.
Future plans include introducing artificial intelligence and cybersecurity programs at Kuwait University, reflecting a commitment to these fields. An exhibition is also part of this year's championship, displaying AI and robotics applications by governmental and private entities aimed at combating explosives, terrorism, and fires.
